Ako Wapi Sasa?” Raila Mocks Gachagua Over State House Traps
In a fiery political exchange, Opposition leader Raila Odinga ridiculed former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua following his impeachment in October. Speaking at a political gathering in Vihiga, Raila mocked Gachagua’s previous remarks about setting traps at State House to block him from accessing President William Ruto.
Raila, known for his sharp wit, said, “Nimeona juzi mtu mwengine anabweka kule ati tumeweka mitego kila mahali, huwezi kupenya. Mtego ya aina gani? Ati aliwekea Baba mtego, eti hakuna mambo ya handshake, ya nusu mkate. Akowapi sasa Gachagua? Mjinga sana.”
This was in reference to Gachagua’s earlier statement where he claimed, “Nimepanga hiyo Ikulu, nimeweka mitego kila corner…huwezi kubali mtu ameharibu serikali nne aingie ya tano.”
Gachagua, in a recent interview, admitted that the “traps” were meant to prevent a backdoor entry for Raila into the government. However, he added that he stopped checking them after noticing President Ruto and Raila growing closer. “My traps were working very well, but when they decided to meet in Uganda to watch Museveni’s big-horned cattle, I decided to observe from a distance,” Gachagua remarked.
The mocking remarks come as Gachagua grapples with his impeachment and replacement by Kithure Kindiki. Raila’s comments have reignited debates on the political dynamics within Kenya’s leadership, showcasing the drama surrounding State House politics.
Where this rivalry leads remains to be seen, but Raila’s jibes have certainly captured the public’s attention.
