Chaos Erupts at Limuru Burial as Gachagua Forced to Flee
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was forced to flee a burial ceremony in Limuru, Kiambu County, after chaos broke out, leaving several mourners injured. The service, held for the late Erastus Nduati, turned violent when goons disrupted proceedings, causing panic and destruction.
The commotion began as former Limuru MP Peter Mwathi addressed the mourners, criticizing the government for alleged mistreatment of Gachagua. Mwathi accused the State of withdrawing Gachagua’s security and attempting to sideline him despite his contributions during his tenure.
Technical issues with the microphone interrupted Mwathi’s speech, and moments later, chaos erupted as goons stormed the venue. They brought down tents, destroyed the setup, and pelted stones at vehicles, including Gachagua’s entourage. The rear window of one of his vehicles was shattered in the attack, but the former DP managed to escape unscathed.
Mourners fled for safety as others attempted to fight back by throwing chairs. Several people sustained injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The incident disrupted the burial service before Gachagua could address the gathering. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but it highlights rising tensions in the political landscape.
