CS Murkomen Pledges Full Support for New FKF Leadership
Cabinet Secretary for Sports Kipchumba Murkomen has expressed the government’s commitment to collaborating with the new Football Kenya Federation (FKF) leadership to revitalize the football scene in Kenya. This assurance follows the successful election of Hussein Mohammed as FKF president on December 7, 2024. Hussein Mohammed takes over from Nick Mwendwa, who had been leading the federation since 2016.
During the announcement, Murkomen commended the smooth and fair electoral process that saw a new leadership team emerge, emphasizing transparency and fairness in the election’s outcome. Murkomen highlighted that the new leadership, including Hussein Mohammed and McDonald Mariga as Vice President, brings fresh energy and the right experience to rejuvenate Kenyan football.

Murkomen outlined the key challenges facing FKF, including issues of corruption, match-fixing, and the need to secure sponsorship deals.
