Diamond Declines to Refund Ksh.19M from Furaha Fest Controversy
Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz has clarified why he will not refund Ksh.19 million paid for his no-show performance at the Furaha Fest. Addressing his fans via social media, Diamond stated that he received $150,000 (approx. Ksh.19M) to headline the event but chose not to perform due to chaotic conditions at the venue.
Diamond explained he remained in his car at the venue, waiting for the organizers to call him to the stage. However, as the commotion continued, he left without performing. “The security state of the venue was very questionable. If my time for performing is up, I will leave the venue and I will not refund any money,” he said.
The singer dismissed accusations from Kenyan artist Willy Paul, who claimed he was barred from performing before Diamond. “Willy Paul has been provoking me on social media, but I have ignored him. It would be foolish to engage,” Diamond remarked.
Diamond’s stance has sparked debates on accountability in the entertainment industry and the balance between safety and contractual obligations.
