Man Arrested in Bondo for Possession of Bhang Seeds
A 35-year-old man was arrested for possessing bhang seeds and is now being held at Bondo police station.
Milton Odera Awuondo was arrested last evening at his home in Usire village, West Sakwa, Bondo sub-county.
According to Siaya County Police Commander Mr. Cleti Kimaiyo, officers from Bondo police station arrested the suspect after receiving a tip from members of the public who informed them that the man was suspected of cultivating bhang.
He stated that based on the intelligence report, the officers went to Odera’s house and arrested him there, which is part of a large compound estimated to be 30 acres in size.
According to the police chief, a search of the suspect’s home yielded several cans full of seeds believed to be cannabis sativa.
Mr. Kimaiyo stated that the search was extended throughout the vast estate, which included farm and forested land, but that no grown bhang seedlings were discovered.
The suspect will be arraigned on Thursday, May 2, 2024.

Nyang’oma Assistant Chief Michael Osare reported that the suspect was subjected to mob justice in Rabango village.
According to Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo, the suspect and his accomplice broke into a house, only for the owner to sound the alarm.
Neighbours arrived in troops and converged on the suspects, killing one of them on the spot.
One of the suspects escaped, while his accomplice was left for dead.
Officers from the Kolopo police station arrived on the scene and collected the body of the unidentified man.
A woman who was with the deceased was rescued from the mob and transported to Bondo Sub County Hospital for treatment.
The deceased’s body was transferred to the facility’s mortuary for autopsy.
