Siaya: 13 Teachers Arrested for Alleged KCSE Exam Malpractice
Thirteen teachers, including nine invigilators, have been arrested in connection with an examination malpractice at Nyamninia Secondary School in Gem Yala sub-county, Siaya. The arrests took place following the discovery of photocopied answers for Mathematics Paper 2 among candidates during the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.
Those detained include the exam supervisor for Nyamninia Secondary, a Board of Management (BOM) teacher from St. Mary’s School Yala, and Nyamninia Secondary’s centre manager along with his deputy. Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) officials overseeing the exams raised the alarm after observing unusual student behavior around 10:15 a.m. during the Mathematics exam.
This incident marks a significant breach in exam integrity, with authorities likely to intensify scrutiny to prevent further irregularities during the KCSE exams.
