Uncle Waffles Expresses Disappointment After Chaotic Nairobi Concert
Swazi DJ Uncle Waffles, born Lungelihle Zwane, has voiced her disappointment following a chaotic concert in Nairobi over the weekend. The Saturday event, held at the ASK Done along Ngong Road, was marred by multiple issues, including poor sound quality, overcrowding, delays, and reports of harassment from the event organizers.
Attendees at the concert experienced increasing frustration due to these problems, and tensions boiled over when the police had to intervene with tear gas to disperse the agitated crowd, forcing many revellers to leave the venue. The DJ, known for her vibrant performances, was unable to perform her set as planned due to the conditions. She expressed her dissatisfaction with how the event was handled, specifically calling out the organizers for mishandling both the crowd and her team.
In a statement released on Monday, Uncle Waffles shared her dismay, emphasizing that the safety and well-being of her fans are her top priority. “I could not play my set any longer while people were visibly uncomfortable and at risk of getting hurt,” she said. The DJ further criticized the event organizers for disappointing not just her, but also the thousands of fans who had come to enjoy the show.
Despite the setback, Uncle Waffles promised to return to Kenya with a better experience. “Kenya, I hope to see you again soon with a much better outcome. I love you guys sm!” she concluded, leaving fans hopeful for a more successful event in the future.
